Model United Nations

The Jamesville-DeWitt M.U.N. (Model U.N.) is the oldest and usually the largest club in the high school. By attending weekly Activity Period meetings on Thursdays, members acquire the skills necessary to become expertly knowledgeable about both international relations and debating. This is done by a variety of role-playing and research activities which allow M.U.N. members to successfully compete at various Model United Nations Conferences, portraying such well-known countries as the United States and Japan or relatively unknown nations such as the Maldive Islands and Lesotho. M.U.N. members compete in these conferences at Syracuse University, suburban Rochester's Hilton High School, Hamilton College and one large national conference held in Washington, D.C., New York City or Boston, as well as a number of small local conferences.
